BCC commissioner M Karthik and Arushi Sharma, Senior Superintendent of the Postal Department (Belagavi Division) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) , enabling this in Belagavi on Friday.
Mr. Karthik said that when citizens submit an application for birth or death certificates along with a consent letter containing their address for postal delivery, the BCC would send the certificate to their homes via post. Applicants can then receive the certificate at their doorstep after paying the postal charges.
The Commissioner noted that this initiative would save both time and money, and urged the public to take advantage of this system established by the two government agencies. The certificates can be received on payment of ₹100.
Ashokkumar Sajjan, Engineer (Environment) and Registrar of Births and Deaths; Maruti Dodamani and Ananthashayana, Postal Department, and others were present, a release stated.
