Russel Arnold, the former Sri Lankan cricketer and commentator, questioned the third umpire's decision in his analysis of the dismissal. Arnold's assessment suggested that the visual evidence from slow-motion replays indicated the ball had made contact with the ground, contradicting the on-field ruling.
"It's been pushed along the ground for a bit. The ball was pushed along the ground. You can see, it was pushed along. When you look at that slow-motion replay, it seems that the fingers were pushed back and the front of the ball was touching the ground," Arnold was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
