DELL RAPIDS, S.D. (KELO) — Friday night lights continues this week with KELOLAND's second game of the week, featuring Avon going on the road to take on St. Mary's. These two teams aren't exactly unfamiliar with each other as they met in the Dakota Dome back in November for the Class 9B state championship. It was a game that was dominated by St. Mary's, which scored 30 unanswered points to open the game, and ended up winning the title 54-6, capping off a 12-0 season. Now, Avon, who has outscored opponents 104-0 during its 2-0 start to the season, is looking to avenge the loss from just 10 months ago, against their toughest opponent of the season. "We know they've got some really great athletes. Some really good ones that return from last year's dome team, and they always have kids that are going to step up. And that's what we're hoping for with our kids as well," Avon Head Coach Justin Lukkes said. "Avon runs the football. They are a big, physical team. They've got a stable full of backs. And you know they're going to look to run the football," St. Mary's Head Coach Ross Flemmer said. The state championship rematch will kick off at 7PM on Keloland.com, Keloland+ and KeloXtra.
