Saubhagya Gajapathi Trust, led by PVSV Prasad organised the event. Speakers paid tributes to the legendary artist and recalled his style and versatility.
Vapa’s associate Chalapathi Rao said that Vaddadi Papayya’s paintings, which earned appreciation across the world, would continue to remain timeless. He said Vapa had demonstrated his mastery not only in painting but also in several other creative forms, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to influence artists.
The Vapa Award was presented to international artist and animator Uttam in recognition of his contribution to art and animation. The Patthi Nageswara Rao Journalism Award was presented to former The Hindu Bureau Chief Prabhakar Sharma.
The book ‘Chitra Yogi’, based on the life and artistic journey of Vaddadi Papayya, was released on the occassion.
