MUMBAI: Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi is set to make a comeback to competitive cricket after a finger injury, which required surgery, kept him out of action since IPL 2026. The 22-year-old has been named in Mumbai's squad for the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Trophy 2026-27. However, Mumbai's other young batting gun, Ayush Mhatre, who too was injured while playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026, is still recovering from a hamstring injury he sustained during the tournament, and is undergoing rehab at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

"Angkrish is fit now. Ayush’s injury will take some more time to heal," Mumbai’s chief selector Rajesh Pawar told TOI on Friday. Raghuvanshi was forced to miss the T20 Mumbai League in June due to a fracture on a finger of his left hand, and underwent a surgery in London With 422 runs in 13 matches, Raghuvanshi was KKR's highest run-getter in the last IPL. That includes hitting five half-centuries in 12 innings-the second successive season when he has tallied 300 or more runs for KKR. Led by batter Suved Parkar, the Mumbai squad also includes allrounder Suryansh Shedge, who played three T20Is for India during their tours of Ireland, England and Zimbabwe recently. Promising pacers, the 16-year-old Karthik Kumar and Onkar Tarmale (was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad team in IPL 2026), who toured England in June-July with the MCA President’s XI (Emerging team), are also a part of the side. This is the first time that Kathik has been picked for the Mumbai senior team. “He bowled impressively during the England tour,” Pawar said. Opener Divyaansh Saxena, who played a solitary Ranji Trophy match for Mumbai in Jan 2023 season, was the Orange Cap winner this year in the T20 Mumbai League, having scored 261 runs, with three half centuries and strike rate of 190. The KSCA Invitational Tournament-an annual warm-up red-ball pre-season event, which will be played from Sept 1-28 at various venues in Bengaluru. Mumbai will play their first match against Chandigarh from Sept 1-4, followed by matches against Maharashtra from Sept 7-10, and then against KSCA -3 from Sept 13-16. The Mumbai senior selection committee, chaired by new chief selector Rajesh Pawar, picked the teams for two warm-up tournaments-KSCA Invitational and another pre-season red-ball tournament in P00ondicherry. The tournament in Pondicherry will be played from Aug 28-Sept 11. It will include potentially four three-day matches.

The Squad: Suved Parkar (Captain), Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Divyansh Saxena, Suryansh Shedge, Maman Bhat, Aakash Anand (wk), Hardik Tamore (wk), Mohit Avasthi, Atharva Ankolekar, Karthik Kumar, Nikhil Giri, Onkar Tarmale & Himanshu Singh.
