Ruben Amorim says that he still has a lot of love for his former employers at Manchester United, but insists that he ‘hasn’t felt anything’ for the Premier League side after joining Milan: ‘This is where I want to be’.
What Amorim said about Man United after Milan friendly victory
The Portuguese head coach was all smiles after leading Milan to a 4-2 victory over his previous club Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Poland on Saturday afternoon: Samu Chukwueze, Aldaphjo Cisse, Goncalo Ramos and Ruben Loftus-Cheek with the goals.
This was Amorim’s first victory in charge of Milan following a 2-2 draw with Celtic, a 1-1 draw with Inter and a 3-0 defeat by Chelsea thus far in pre-season.
It was also the first time that Amorim has come up against his former club, United, since being dismissed as head coach in January.
“For me it was a normal game,” Amorim insisted after full-time (via TMW).
“I haven’t felt anything for Manchester United since joining Milan. I’m proud to have been at Manchester United and I still love the club, but I don’t feel anything negative about anything after signing with Milan because I’m very happy and in the place I want to be.”

“Of course, it was special to be back playing against them, but I wanted to win a pre-season match to set us up well for the league, to leave the fans with a positive image so that they want to support us in the first game.”
This was Milan’s final pre-season test of the summer ahead of their Serie A season opener against Torino next weekend.
