Adaptability, defense leading Westville into spotlight game

WESTVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) -- Since the first practices of the season, Westville football has seen various starting spots change hands. "We've gone through a lot of change, but the change has been, a lot of people going in and out of spots, but it's nice to see that everybody pays attention and pick up on everything," senior offensive and defensive lineman Reid Smith said. The roster's adaptability has helped the Tigers pick up early wins over Iroquois West and Salt Fork. "They're not worried about themselves," senior quarterback and defensive back Easton Bolin said. "They just want to make the team win, and if they go to a position they don't want to play but they play hard, the team will be a little better." The Westville defense has shined through two games, giving up just eight points in week one and 14 in week two "We've flew to the ball, corraled people, gang tackle, doing pretty well, I like our linebacking corps defensive line and stopping the run," Smith said. "We look pretty good." The Tigers week three matchup at Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin in our Friday Football Fever Spotlight Game of the Week also has bragging rights on the line between teams that know their opponent all too well. "Everybody knows everybody," Bolin said. "Just because it's such a small conference and we're all close, so it's always fun playing your buddies and you're really competitive on the field.
