The Pittsburgh Steelers will have an opportunity to see how some of their young quarterbacks look on a Thursday night against the Green Bay Packers. Pittsburgh will host the Packers in what is expected to be an exciting game to kick off the season.  Pittsburgh, more importantly, needs to figure out if it has anything with Will Howard and Drew Allar.  Allar, the former Penn State quarterback, will have his first opportunity to show what he has in the NFL. It's going to be very interesting to see whether his game can improve at the highest level, though some are definitely skeptical. I personally believe Allar is a few years away and will eventually become a decent NFL quarterback, but it's going to take time, and there's no problem with that. He's a young kid who needs to figure some things out, and that can be said for a lot of guys who have found success in this league. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, however, is looking for a few things from both of his young quarterbacks. He added that it's a very good experience for these guys to get, but it's a lot different than going through practices and training camp. "It's a great experience the first time to be out there and be live," Rodgers said, per the team. "A lot of the interesting things you see in the preseason is the athleticism from the quarterbacks that you don't get to see in training camp. "Because there are 'sacks' [in practice] and you extend plays, but it's different when the team is actually rushing you to sack you. And there can be some lanes to get through, and see how you do on the run, and protect yourself, not try and be a hero out there and try and run somebody over. It's not college anymore. There are some bigger, stronger, faster guys who are going to be coming after you. But I'm excited about watching both those guys." I'm more excited to see whether Allar makes the right plays day in and day out on the field.  We know that he has the physical tools to be a very good quarterback, but there were times at Penn State where his IQ just didn't seem as high as it needed to be. I'm also interested to see whether he looks better in an offense that's not one of the most boring in the country.
