The Baltimore Ravens squared off against the Philadelphia Eagles in their first of three preseason matchups in the 2026 season. Head coach Jesse Minter got his first chance to lead the Ravens, and backups and young players saw plenty of action. Here are five big takeaways from the Baltimore win. 5. Backup Defense Shines  The Ravens may have had a lot of their "established" players sitting out, but the backups on defense showed off in a big way. Cornerback Keyon Martin continued his solid training camp, by putting together four tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss.  The entire defense held the Eagles to 159 total yards, much of which came during garbage time. Considering the starters were not on the field, things looked good for the Ravens' defensive unit.  4. Ravens Kicking Game May Need Competition Tyler Loop is the lone kicker on the team, but he continues to show that the Ravens may need to bring another in for competition. Loop missed a 49-yard field goal, but nailed a 42-yarder later in the game. The miss on the 49-yarder may be cause for concern, as he missed a similar kick to end the 2025 season. 3. Joe Fagnano Has Solid Performance Third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano was solid when he took over for Tyler Huntley. The undrafted free agent passer ended his day with 224 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on 22-for-28 attempts. Fagnano showed why he remained on the Ravens roster while Diego Pavia was released.  Fagnano had some solid poise in the pocket and delivered solid throws to the young pass catchers. Though he will remain the third-string option, he improved his stock in a major way. 2. Adam Randall Could be a Solid Backup Ravens owner Steven Bisciotti made it a point to draft running back Adam Randall, and he answered with some decent action. Randall finished the night with 12 carries for 46 yards, one touchdown, and a 3.8-yard-per-carry average.  Randall will need to churn his legs for a better average, but he could be a solid rotational option to use for Declan Doyle's offense. 1. Ja'Kobi Lane Makes Strong Case for WR3 The Ravens may have their answer at WR3, as rookie Ja'Kobi Lane continues to extend his impressive playmaking abilities in the preseason. With three catches for 38 yards and one touchdown, he saw his night end following his score. Fagnano threw the ball high over multiple defenders, as Lane reached up to bring it in. He used his large frame to break two tackles and reached out for the score.  The fact that Lane was taken out while Elijah Sarratt remained may be proof that the former is closing the gap on being a starter.
