San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York has been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools in Ohio, just two weeks before the start of the NFL season.

According to Columbiana County court records obtained and reviewed by PEOPLE, the NFL owner, 46, pleaded no contest on Monday, Aug. 24 to two misdemeanor charges after his arrest in East Palestine, Ohio.

York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, but he pleaded no contest after it was after it was amended to disorderly conduct.

Per Ohio laws, the charge of possession of criminal tools could entail “possession or control of any substance, device, instrument, or article designed or specially adapted for criminal use.”

Columbiana County ordered York to serve a single day in jail for both charges, but was given a credit of one day for time served. The 49ers owner was also ordered to pay fines of $1,000 and $150, according to the records.

PEOPLE has contacted the 49ers for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

York became the chief executive officer of the 49ers in 2010. In 2024, he became the principle owner after his mother, Denise DeBartolo York, sold him additional equity of the organization, according to .

The 49ers kick off their 2026 NFL season on the road with a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 10.
