“Win or lose, I know everybody was going to make a big deal about that for either team,” Shanahan said, per ESPN’s Nick Wagoner. “You never know how much that factors into it. You just try to do the best to prepare for 3½ hours. I liked how we prepared, but more importantly, I liked how we played.”

Shanahan seemed to enjoy his time “Down Under.” But that doesn’t mean he wants the 49ers to play another international game in Australia anytime soon.
“It was cool. I would like to come back when I’m not working, though,” Shanahan added. “It seemed awesome. Seemed like a cool place. But it’s tough when you’re working the whole time. … I like 17 home games in San Francisco. Nothing against Australia, just don’t like to travel.”
Now the 49ers have some extra time to travel back to the US before their next game.
Shanahan won’t ever get his dream of 17 consecutive home games. But at least the 49ers will return to Levi’s Stadium for their next game.
San Francisco will host Miami in Week 2 at 4:25PM ET on September 20th.
