The NHL offseason proved to be exceptionally fruitful for these four teams, each making impactful additions that are expected to enhance their performance in the upcoming season. The Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers all strengthened their rosters significantly, setting the stage for an exciting year ahead. Mandatory Credit: Russell LaBounty-Imagn Images The Washington Capitals, after missing the playoffs, had to make adjustments, and they did so by acquiring Alex Tuch from Buffalo, Jordan Kyrou from St Louis, and Boone Jenner via free agency.  Washington missed the playoffs last season for the first time under Spencer Carbery, and they took this offseason more seriously than ever. This team, top to bottom, has dangerous weapons, and this is a team that can make a solid run in Alex Ovechkin’s final season. New Jersey Devils The big offseason move for the Devils was moving off of Jacob Markstrom, and the return was very solid. Evan Rodriguez will immediately make an impact and has under-the-radar scoring. He can score big goals for them and defend well as a forward. With the team healthy, this team can compete in the top half of the Metropolitan. Can they get good enough goaltending from Nico Daws and Jake Allen? It is something that will be answered when the season kicks in. MORE: NHL teams least likely to win the Stanley Cup in the next 10 years FloridaPanthers Apr 15, 2026; Sunrise, Florida, USA; Florida Panthers left wing Matthew Tkachuk (19) acknowledges the fans after the game against the Detroit Red Wings at Amerant Bank Arena. Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images The Florida Panthers dealt with many injuries and are getting news that Brad Marchand underwent surgery recently. Brady Tkachuk joins his brother Matthew as the Panthers completed a deal to acquire Brady. These two are elite forces and can be a great duo under Paul Maurice. With a difficult division, the Panthers made some good moves to bolster their team to get back in the playoff mix. New York Rangers The Rangers faced significant challenges last season, being shut out nine times. They struggled to perform at home, which affected their overall morale. In an effort to improve, they brought in two new defensemen, Marcus Petterson and Sean Durzi. With Vincent Trocheck’s departure, the center depth now features Mika Zibanejad, JT Miller, Noah Laba, and Joel Veneno. Albert Smits aims to secure a spot on the opening night roster and make an immediate impact, while the team will rely on a strong season from Alexis Lafreniere and its emerging young stars. — Enjoy free coverage of the top news & trending stories with The Big Lead Newsletter —
