With the NFL season set to kick off September 8 and the Detroit Lions scheduled to open their season September 13, it’s time to look at some of the best player prop bets available.
Here are my top three Lions player prop bets currently available on FanDuel Sportsbook.
1. Jared Goff — 4,000.5 Passing Yards: Over
For me personally, this is an absolute smash bet.
Jared Goff has thrown for more than 4,400 yards in each of the past four seasons, including 4,500-plus yards in three of those seasons. The only realistic way I see him missing this number is if he suffers an injury.
Detroit is also expected to play one of the easier schedules in the NFL. While there is always a possibility that the Lions could build leads and rely more heavily on the running game late in games, I believe Goff will have already accumulated enough passing yards against weaker defenses to put himself in a strong position to clear 4,000 yards.
If Goff stays healthy, I love the over.
2. Jameson Williams — 900.5 Receiving Yards: Over
Jameson Williams has now put together back-to-back seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards, and I believe he has another opportunity to blow past his current prop.
Detroit’s assistant head coach and wide receivers coach has called Williams one of the most impressive players throughout training camp. The addition of offensive coordinator Drew Petzing could also play a major role in Williams’ production.
Last season, Williams got off to an incredibly slow start, but his connection with Goff became much stronger as the year progressed. Over the final eight games, Williams became one of Goff’s most heavily targeted receivers and showed just how dangerous this offense can be when he is consistently involved.
One of my bold predictions for this season is that Williams finishes with 1,200 receiving yards.
With an upgraded offensive line and a healthy offense heading into Week 1, opposing defenses are going to have some difficult decisions to make. Do they keep an extra safety deep to prevent Williams from beating them over the top? Do they dedicate additional attention to Jahmyr Gibbs? Do they focus on keeping Sam LaPorta from getting open over the middle?
And, of course, they still have to deal with Amon-Ra St. Brown.
There are simply too many weapons for defenses to completely eliminate everyone.
Realistically, I think Williams can hit 900.5 receiving yards in 14 games or fewer.
3. Amon-Ra St. Brown — 101.5 Receptions: Over
This is another bet I would absolutely hammer.
Amon-Ra St. Brown has finished with at least 102 receptions in each of the past four seasons. Even as a rookie, he came close to this number, finishing with 90 receptions.
St. Brown has also been incredibly durable throughout his career, missing just two games since joining the Lions in 2021. That durability could play a massive role in helping him reach this number.
If St. Brown plays 16 games, I see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to clear 101.5 receptions.
Yes, Detroit has plenty of mouths to feed on offense. Williams is emerging as a major threat, Gibbs is one of the most dynamic running backs in football, and LaPorta remains one of Goff’s favorite targets.
But St. Brown is still the reliable option Goff can turn to whenever he needs a completion.
For that reason, the over 101.5 receptions is one of my favorite Lions props heading into the season.
Final Thoughts
If I had to rank these three bets from my favorite to least favorite, I’d go:
1. Jared Goff — Over 4,000.5 passing yards
2. Amon-Ra St. Brown — Over 101.5 receptions
3. Jameson Williams — Over 900.5 receiving yards
All of these bets are based on the current lines available through FanDuel Sportsbook. Prop lines can vary depending on the sportsbook, so you may find slightly different numbers elsewhere.
As always, shop around for the best line before placing a bet.
